Concerning the photographs, which are coming
Each instrument is to have a likeness. The illuminator has the work. The cabinet shows a seal and a promise until he is finished.
It is the intention of this Office that every indulgence be shown as it will appear in the hand: a sheet, somewhat ornamental, with a seal that declines to name its owner and a tariff in modern money.
Those likenesses are not yet in our possession. The illuminator — a person, or an arrangement of persons, with gold leaf and a habit of disappearing — has the commission. In the interval, the catalogue displays a vacant frame and the legend IMAGO MOX ADEST.
When the pictures arrive they will be placed on the relevant instruments and this notice may be allowed to yellow. Until then, please read the instruments themselves. They are, for the moment, the only portrait we can afford.
